How to take Dovonex

DOVONEX: DOVONEX is for use on the skin only as directed. Do not use this for any other skin condition other than that for which it has been prescribed. Apply DOVONEX in a thin layer to the affected area(s) usually twice a day. Rub it in gently and completely. Wash hands after using. Do not apply to the face or near the eyes.

Dovonex Side Effects

Dry skin, peeling or itching of the skin may occur. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: a skin rash, irritation, inflammation or swelling of the skin, worsening of psoriasis. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Dovonex Precautions

Tell your doctor of any nonprescription or prescription medication you may take including isotretinoin, amiodarone, tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, sulfa-drugs or phenothiazines as they increase skin sensitivity to the sun. Also, inform your doctor if you are taking minoxidil or any skin medications, soaps, cleansers, cosmetics, astringents or other facial products that may be drying or irritating (e.g., alcohol-containing facial products). Benzoyl peroxide should not be applied at the same time as Dovonex.

Dovonex Overdose

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

Dovonex Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take especially of: all skin products used for psoriasis. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Dovonex Notes

You should see some improvement in your condition after two weeks of using DOVONEX with marked improvement after 8 weeks of therapy. Laboratory tests may be done periodically while using DOVONEX to monitor its effectiveness and prevent side effects.

Dovonex Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; If it is near the time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Dovonex Storage

Store Dovonex at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 25 degrees C). Do not freeze. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children.
