Before Using Proscar
- Inform your Doctor or Pharmacist if you are allergic to any prescription or non-prescription medicine; taking other medicines
or have other medical problems; pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
- Check with your Doctor, Pharmacists, or Nurse if information in this leaflet causes you special concern or if you want
- additional information about your medicine and its use.
- Inform your doctor if you have any of these conditions : PROSTATE problem; GLAUCOMA; PEPTIC ULCER; LIVER DISEASE; ASTHMA;
CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (COPD).
Common Uses For Proscar
- For the treatment of ALLERGIC RHINITIS
- For the treatment of URTICARIA
How to Use Proscar
- Use Proscar exactly as directed on the label, unless instructed differently by your doctor
- Proscar can be taken with or without food, REGARDLESS of meal times. For faster absorbtion, take on an empty stomach.
- Swallow whole, unless otherwise directed by your physician. DO NOT crush or chew sustained release preparations.
Proscar Storage
Keep Proscar in original closed container in a dark, cool, and dry place away from children. Discard unneeded medicine.
Proscar Missed Dose
Take Proscar when remembered unless time for next dose. No double doses.
Proscar Side Effects
- Headache
- Sleepiness
- Drowsiness
- Unusual tiredness or weakness
- Dry mouth
- Dry throat
- Low blood pressure
- Sweating
- Inflammation of the pharynx
- Irregular heartbeat
- Nasal dryness
- Joint pain
- Difficulty breathing
- Depression
- Anxiety
- High
blood pressure
- Rapid heart rate
- Diarrhea
- Difficult urination
- Blurred vision.
If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome, check with your doctor.
IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE,
CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.
Proscar Precautions and Warnings
- There are no adequate or well-controlled safety studies in pregnant women. NOTIFY YOUR DOCTOR IF PREGNANT or intend to become
pregnant.
- STOP TAKING Proscar & GET EMERGENCY HELP IMMEDIATELY IF A HYPERSENSITIVITY OR ANAPHYLACTIC REACTION occurs: (see symptoms
below)
- Shortness of breath, fast or irregular breathing, fever, joint pain, fast pulse, lightheadedness or fainting, swelling of
face, hives, & itching.
- Proscar may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. DO NOT drive or operate machinery until you become familiar
with its effects.
- AVOID concurrent use of alcohol or other CNS depressants as it may intensify the drowsiness, dizziness, or lightheadedness
effect of proscar.
- Because of INTERACTION with other drugs, report the use of any other prescription and nonprescription medicines to your
doctor.
- The results of some MEDICAL or LAB tests may be affected by proscar. Inform the doctor in charge that you are taking
proscar.
- Proscar may cause increased sensitivity to the sun. You should AVOID prolonged or excessive exposure to direct and/or
artificial sunlight.
